Recap[]
Officer Zoe Powell was gone. She had been taken by a member of the Mexican Police. The guy was on the take and he had gotten to the dangerous bomb they were all supposed to find, but he didn’t hand the bomb over to proper authorities. He instead kept it.
He hopes to sell it. He was looking to get rich and Powell just got in the way. He could have killed Powell right off. He didn’t. It was actually a good sign that he hadn’t because it meant he didn’t want to cross that line. And that gave her people time to find her while he was dealing with his moral dilemma.
Powell’s people were a little slow in realizing she was gone. They thought she went on an amazing date with Gabriel. They didn’t know or suspect that Gabriel would turn out to be a bad guy. It wasn’t until they checked out her hotel room to find her phone there without her that they realized something was wrong.
Gabriel had cleaned up after his fight with Powell. He was in a bit of a rush. He missed a few things. Like there being a second vase. Or the scuffle marks on the wall. Or even the drops of blood near the bed. Gabriel was sloppy. His sloppiness alerted the authorities. They called the Mexican Police. They wanted a team to go over that room and funnily enough Gabriel showed up.
Gabriel claimed Powell changed her mind about their date. He said that Powell told him that she was going to turn in early. Gabriel was denying seeing her after work and his bosses didn’t like the Americans questioning him. Only Hicks has been on the job for a while. He knew that something was off with Gabriel’s story. Hicks had asked Powell not to go on that date and Powell only agreed to go to tick off Hicks.
There’s no way she would change her mind. She had something to prove by going on that date. She would want to rub it in Hicks’s face and Hicks knew that. Hicks told Hondo that.
They kept looking for Powell. They had their people back stateside look into Gabriel. They went to Gabriel’s home. They spoke with his grandmother to see if he had been in that night. They spotted Gabriel stop by his garage and grab a shovel. Hicks and Hondo tried to stop him from getting away. He almost ran over Hondo in his haste to escape them.
What they didn’t know was that Gabriel had Powell in the truck of that car. Its why he couldn’t afford to stop or come up with a lame excuse. He needed to get away with Powell before they checked his car. Hondo and Hicks heard back from their people. They heard that Gabriel was accused of stealing from crime scenes during the police exchange in Sacramento. He reportedly stole cocaine from one scene. Guns from another. Gabriel never got arrested because there was no concrete evidence only the crimes stopped once he left.
Gabriel was the first to the van where the bomb disappeared from. SWAT realized he stole that bomb. He had plenty of time and he was known for stealing from crime scenes. They also figured out that Powell must have learned he stole the bomb. Its why he had taken her. It doesn’t look good for her that Gabriel had grabbed a shovel before he left. Powell’s team didn’t know if she was dead or alive. They just knew they had to find her. They needed to hurry up though because Gabriel stupidly tried to sell the bomb. And got killed for it.
Powell had gotten away from him. She hid in the van that had the bomb. She was well-hidden. Gabriel didn’t find her and then the buyers showed up. Gabriel tried to get paid. He ended up getting killed.
The bomb and the van it was in got stolen by the bad guys. Powell dropped off a message from them. Only she was on the road now with the bomb. Hondo and Hicks found her message with Gabriel’s dead body. They went looking for her. They reported Gabriel’s death to the Mexican Police. The Mexican Police believes the Americans killed one of their own. They told the guys to come in.
When that didn’t happen, Commander Fria issued arrest warrants for the American police. It didn’t matter that they kept sending evidence of the bomb being on the move or that one of their own was in danger. This head honcho wanted to arrest the Americans for several deaths. He was refusing to listen to reason. The Mexican Police were no longer of any help. SWAT had Powell and their own resources. They found out that the buyer took the bomb to an expensive estate named Casa Isabel Pearlman.
They thought it involved the real Isabel Pearlman. The woman said that no she doesn’t have anything to do with Mexico City after her divorce. Her ex-husband took her on a honeymoon down there that turned out to be a work trip. He bought a house that he named after her to make up for that. Well, it didn’t work. They still got divorced.
The real Isabel gave SWAT directions to the house. There they found that Isabel’s ex-husband was meeting with the Colombian President and the leader of the dissident's group in Colombia.
The ex was apparently trying to broker a peace deal between the two warring factions. He was doing it because he has business interests in the area, but a peace agreement will change things. It was seemingly too much change for the people getting rich from the conflict. They intended to bomb everyone. They set the bomb. They put it on a timer. Hondo and Hicks got arrested by Mexican Police at the house. Powell got tied up again. They were all about to die when Hondo and Hicks were finally able to get through to Fria. They convinced him the bomb was in the house.
They were able to evacuate the house. They took care of the bad guys. They found Powell as well as the bomb. Powell heard the guys talking about a decoy wire. This helped Hicks to properly defuse the bomb. And they saved the day.
Hicks also apologized for telling Powell what to do with her life. He was wrong to do so. He knew he should have apologized instantly. Even if he was right about Gabriel.
And Fria took the credit for everything.

Goofs[]
- Powell's clothes are dirty, from being dragged across rough ground and the floor of a disused bakery, but they get clean, and her hair is tidy, in later scenes.
- In the previous episode, Powell was throttled, very forcefully, until she passed out, but, in this one, sometime later, there are no bruises or other marks on her neck.
- Hicks uses a knife to cut the two, fairly thick cables from the bomb's timer. However, as soon as he touches the cables with the knife, the ends fall away. It should have taken more effort.
- When Hicks 'cuts' the bomb's timer cables, there is a clearly audible 'snick', like you would get with wire cutters or scissors, but he was using a knife.
