Summary[]

The SWAT team races to stop a violent rampage with ties to a painful chapter from Hicks' past.

Recap[]

That night, Hicks returns home and drinks some wine, before answering a phone call to Hondo about how Miguel has fled. As he states that, a figure is seen in the doorway and emerges to confront Hicks. It is an armed Miguel who has broken in. Seeing him, Hicks quickly tells Hondo "Daniel, I know we haven't talked since last July but I'm gonna have to call you back." After Hicks ends the call, Hondo notes on him using his first name and stating July, quickly realizing Hicks is being confronted by Miguel and immediately makes a beeline for his house while alerting local police of a home invasion.

Back to Hicks, Miguel holds him at gunpoint and tells him that he couldn't leave without finishing off the root of his vendetta. Hicks states he assumed this would happen, despite everyone saying that he was paranoid. Miguel tells Hicks he is part of the greater evil he's facing, though Hicks tells him that he doesn't have to preach because there are no cameras or anyone to hear his message. Hicks notes that he should have done this years ago, apologize to Miguel for his loss and not reaching out to him, thinking if he did then this could have been avoided. Enraged, Miguel refused his apologies and yells he only wanted his family. Hicks turns on the music, distracting Miguel long enough for Hicks to strike him with his wine glass. Hicks quickly flees while Miguel erratically opens fire on the area. Regaining his sight, Miguel tells Hicks that he's going to have to do better than that. He then begins his hunt for police commander.

Hicks quickly arms himself with a baton, as Miguel angrily searches for him near the pool and yells that he can't hide forever. He spots Hicks' shadow in a room and fires at it, though it is simply his reflection on the mirror and Hicks quickly disarms Miguel and the two start to brawl. The two men angrily struggle to gain an advantage over the other, until Hicks eventually subdues Miguel. At that point, Hondo and back up arrive with Hicks alerting them to their location. Miguel protests that he lost everything but Hicks states he isn't sure and persuades him to surrender to Hondo who has Miguel taken away with the two officers. Hicks tells Hondo that Miguel was his only intruder and the latter notes that Hicks still has edge to take down an armed man like Miguel, while he is relieved his trouble is over.

At HQ, Tan approaches Street and Cabrera apologizing for his outburst. He states what they told him did leave him upset but it opened his eyes to reality, as he felt that something was off about Bonnie and they were getting distant. He voices that he intends to confront her and notes whatever answer she gives will not turn out to his liking. The two bitterly wish him luck.

Tan arrives home, where his wife tells him that she got dinner ready. She notes on his somber mood and asks about it, to which he asks her whereabouts the previous night while Bonnie tries to remind him but he's not buying it, stating he's owed honesty. After a long pause, she admits to being in LA and tearfully confirms an affair. Devastated, Tan asks her how long and she reveals six months and that it was with a coworker. She reveals that she meant to tell Tan but couldn't figure out the right way. Hearing enough, Tan tells her to leave while ignoring her protests. As Bonnie heads to the door, she tries to talk him again but he orders her out. Out of rage, he punches a hole in the wall.

Notes[]

  • The construction of the amphitheater in a former Chicano neighborhood, is reminiscent of a poignant event in Los Angeles History. On May 8, 1959, the land in the Los Angeles district of Chavez Ravine was condemned, and the Mexican-American community was evicted to make way for Dodger Stadium.
  • The music Commander Hicks listened to when returning home is the German national anthem.
