Biography[]
Bennett first appears in Human Interest, where she conducts an early review of the team, creating friction with Commander Hicks due to past conflicts involving her husband, Warden Bennett. She threatens him into dropping his case, but Hicks declines. Bennett says she will be coming for him and all of SWAT before she leaves.
She returns in AMBER, confronting Hicks in regard to Officer Devin Gamble, whose family is composed of criminals, especially a father who murdered a Sheriff's Deputy. She reveals an investigation towards Gamble would start by the hand of Internal Affairs due to Gamble's brothers and cousins being involved in an heist and Gamble is suspected for tipping them off. Bennett refuses to listen to Gamble's pleas that she was not aware of her brothers and cousins' schemes and was only hanging out with them in an average family dinner. At the end of the episode, Sergeant Daniel Harrelson confronts Bennett for her move and maintains Gamble is innocent but Bennett refuses to back down until she receives solid, silver-bullet evidence that Gamble is indeed a clean cop. Due to the investigation, Gamble is forced to remain off duty until she eventually returns in The Santa Clara after everyone in Internal Affairs finds her innocent.
In Hostages, the tension between Bennett and Hicks continues as Hondo and the rest of 20-Squad try to identify a terrorist in a bus station, which eventually becomes the site of a situation of hostages by two criminal brothers and their friends. At the end of the episodes, she alerts Robert that she may be one step closer to getting him removed from his position as Commander after he tried to overrule her during negotiation with the criminals, intensifying the political pressure within the LAPD.
In "Exploited," Hondo discovers that she is working to get Hicks demoted from SWAT to a new art theft position. Hondo, Hicks and Bennett all meat and Hicks, not wanting to be pushed out of the department he has given his life to, quits, much to viewer shock.
Her final appearance is in "Run to Ground," when Hicks tells Hondo she will be taking over as the new SWAT Commander. However, they discover that her husband had been taking bribes from criminals, and Bennett went to her home to confront him on this. However, Hicks gets no word back and decided to stop by, revealing Bennett and her husband being held hostage by Donavan Lee, an escaped criminal. Hicks is able to shoot and kill Donavan, rescuing both Bennett and her husband. Later that night, she tells Hicks she is truly sorry and will be retiring from the LAPD.
