Police Officer III+1 Dominique Luca is a main protagonist of S.W.A.T. and formally a member of the 20-Squad S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics) team of the Los Angeles Police Department (L.A.P.D.), as third-in-command. He retired from LAPD S.W.A.T. in Season 7 after sustaining severe gunshots, one of which permanently damaged the nerves in his arm, preventing him from passing S.W.A.T.'s physical requirements.
Biography[]

His grandfather dies and it is revealed that the last time he saw his grandfather, he fought with him because of Hondo being the team leader and his grandfather is racist.
He got kicked out of his apartment by his girlfriend and couch surfs at his fellow SWAT members. He is a nuisance from waking up early in the morning to playing games all night long to Deacon's ire. He stays the longest at Street's apartment.
It is shown in "K-Town" that Luca really loves K-town and knows how to speak Korean thanks to an ex-fling. He took Kayla out to Burning Man and then ghosted her. Luca goes to her for help with Calvin's kidnapping. Luca also loves ice cream.

Luca returns from London anxious to get back to work with SWAT in LA, the morning after returning spends time teaching Kelly Stewart how to drive explaining what he went through when he was learning to drive before losing his temper after Kelly drives into a T intersection before he gives the okay to turn left. Throughout the day Luca engages with his team hunting three escaped prisoners, during this time he reflects on his reaction to the near miss when teaching Kelly how to drive. At the end of his shift, he apologizes to Kelly for losing his cool early and gives her another chance to drive his truck to a local eatery. After arriving at the eatery, several thieves break out of a nearby store, Luca announces his presence as an LAPD office and is shot at, another thief exits the shop and opens fire shooting Luca twice in the torso before approaching and shooting him a third time in the chest, the thieves escape, and Kelly runs over to Luca calling for help.
As a result of injuries sustained during the shooting, Luca was forced to choose between a desk job and taking retirement. Ultimately, he chose retirement after Hondo reassured him that the team would always consider him family.

Olivia Barlow[]
Detective Olivia Barlow first appears in Season 5 Episode 12: Provenance, where the auction house where Hondo's sister Winnie works is invaded. She specializes in art theft, and this auction house has many important pieces of work displayed. At the end of the episode, Luca is encouraged to ask Olivia out for dinner. She isn't mentioned again until later, in Season 5 Episode 20: Quandary, when Luca is trying to talk Street into a double date. He later mentions that the date will be his third will Olivia.
Kelly Stewart[]
Kelly first appears in Season 1, Episode 18: Patrol, where on their monthly patrol day, Deacon and Luca host a group of troubled kids, where Luca notices that one has dyslexia. Luca starts weekly tutoring sessions with her, helping her learn to read and write and succeed in school. They grow close, Luca acting as a father figure towards Kelly as she grows up. She enlists his help when she auditions for a school play, as well as later when she is writing for her school's newspaper and writes an article on Luca.

He loves to drive. His favorite vehicle is Black Betty, the team SWAT truck. He loves surfing and loves to spend time with everyone on 20 Squad.

- His Grandfather, Jack Luca, was a first-generation SWAT Officer, in Homecoming it is revealed that he was racist.

- In Pilot, it is revealed that Luca is the department champion in arm-wrestling. He defends this title in The B-Team against L.A.F.D. In real life, Kenny Johnson was a world champion in arm wrestling, having competed at the amateur level for several years.

- In The B-Team, it is revealed that Luca has trypanophobia (fear of needles).
